Module 1: Calculator fundamentals

The calculator at calculator.siter.app is a single-analysis UI: one PES, one ES, one explosive configuration, one result. Working with it in isolation makes it easy to see how a single input change cascades through the criteria path into a final analysis code and required distance — and that mental model is what you'll carry into Siter, where many analyses run together over a GIS.

This module walks the calculator inputs in roughly the order the engine consumes them, then closes with how to trace any result back to the inputs that produced it.

Learning objectives

By the end of this module you should be able to:

  • Identify every calculator input and explain what it controls
  • Predict how a single attribute change will move the analysis code and required distance
  • Trace any result back to the criterion entry, code, and inputs that produced it
  • Read a flowchart for a hazard division and locate where the engine made each decision
